Rooster Valley Farm School has some unique resident "faculty." Our farm animals live on campus. Our classroom dogs and cat commute each day. Hover over animals below to learn more about them.
Boots, a Norwegian Dwarf Goat, enjoys being fed by hand. He has attended Heirloom's (a local restaurant) birthday party where he was very social & enjoyed the fine dining. Boots seems to be the main greeter in the RVFS barnyard.
Wilbur claims to be a Micro Teacup Pig. This might be true if we lived in the giant's home in Jack & the Beanstalk. Wilbur enjoys being rubbed on the belly, having his skin exfoliated, and eating...well, everything. He has a hard time seeing, so please do not feed him out of your hand.
Jemima the Runner Duck was voted in as President of the Barnyard this year (2020). She won against Boots the goat. Our last president, Prudence the hen, died in office.
He is our taller Babydoll sheep. He enjoys rubs above his nose.
Being a Magpie duck, Maggie is very talkative. She is RVFS' oldest duck. She enjoys eating lettuce and making a very loud quacking sound that sounds like a laughing man.
Ms. Jen's Bernese Mountain Dog in her classroom.
Our shorter Babydoll sheep. He enjoys following Lambert around & eating treats for breakfast from students in the mornings.
Ms. Tricia's class dog. She is a mini-dachshund and acts as our security dog :)
One of our Flemish Giants. She is NOT as slow as molasses though. :)
One of our Flemish Giants
Our barn cat who is terrible at his job of catching mice and rats. He loves to come downstairs in the barn every morning and afternoon we are singing, "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning."
Dolly is a bantam hen. She and Rooster Elton had a few baby chicks in 2020!
Our only boy duck, Latte, looks like he wears a little coffee colored vest.
A Ragdoll cat in Ms. Jen's classroom. A sweetheart who loves pets. She comes when she is called, and has other amazing dog-like qualities.
One of our bantam hens. Mom to Fluffy.
Fluffy is really a bantam hen (Elton's daughter) who snuck out to live with the big hens in the main part of the barnyard when she was about 6 months old! She can hold her own and is very fast!
Our only Magpie duck. She is our oldest duck on campus.
One of our oldest chickens! She broke her foot years ago, but worked through it and is a go-getter! Prudence was voted in as RVFS' first Barnyard President in 2016 by all of our students. Snaps the goat lost that race.
He was more shy than Boots. He liked to nap sitting down in the straw. Wasn't that into food.
A giant Peking duck. She was the bigger of the two. She enjoyed walks in the garden and slurping slugs.
Ms. Tricia's Ex-Racing Greyhound in the Pre-K classroom.
