Established 2012 SNOQUALMIE, WA AGES 2.5 TO 5
OPEN HOUSE TOUR on Saturday, November 9 at 10:00am
Rooster Valley Farm School is unique among preschools in the Snoqualmie Valley because it is the only school in which the students interact daily with a wide variety of farm animals, actively work and play in a productive garden, and engage in a strong academic program.
There is an intrinsic connection between children and farm life. Farm life has many inherent benefits and a number of lessons to teach. At Rooster Valley Farm School, young children take care of farm animals, garden, get dirty, and play outside no matter what the weather.
Interacting with farm animals teaches children responsibility, patience, and communication. Farm animals provide challenges that can be used to build up a child's confidence. For example, picking up a reluctant chicken can be alarming, but there is a real sense of accomplishment when a child gets past loud clucks & flapping wings. Life among animals means that children learn to care about someone other than themselves. Children working with farm animals and in a garden also have a practical, working knowledge of many things they may not get elsewhere: biology, mechanics, safety skills, life cycles, growing food, etc. Research has shown that children who have been exposed to farm animals from a young age tend to better listeners, do well in school, and develop integrity and compassion above their age level.
Our goal is for our students to not only be successful academically, but to be well-rounded kids who are not afraid to get dirty, jump in and help, work hard, take risks, have fun, and be kind to others.
